About the Role

The Director of Carving/Finishing is a key leadership position responsible for developing, managing and elevating the finishing department at Monumental Labs, overseeing quality control, and leading a team of skilled carvers in the production of high-end stone sculptures and architectural elements. Monumental Labs is a growing robotic stone milling fabricator.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all caving/finishing operations across multiple concurrent projects
• Develop, implement, and maintain finishing standards and quality control procedures
• Train, mentor, and supervise a diverse team of full-time and part-time finishing specialists
• Ensure consistency in finishing quality across all projects while meeting established timelines
• Coordinate with various production teams to optimize workflow between design development, stone milling work and hand finishing.
• Document and standardize finishing processes for different types of projects
• Manage resource allocation and production schedules within the finishing department
• Review and approve finished work at key milestone checkpoints
• Implement and maintain organized workstation and tool management systems
• Meet with clients regularly to determine client finishing needs, quality control, and approvals
• Collaborate with project directors to ensure client specifications are met

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in stone finishing or similar materials
• Strong technical knowledge of stone working techniques and tools
• Deep knowledge of stone finishes, waxes, sealers, and maintenance products
• Demonstrated experience in team management and training
